VIETNAMESE BUSINESS STRATEGY- Asian Vietnamese Americans comprise a variety of small and fractured markets. Corporate America identifies the Vietnamese by categorizing them into the Asian American Ethnic Group. Though the label remains true to some sense essentially the buying power of the Vietnamese people and their true value on the return on investment (ROI) to the domestic and international marketplace is heavily under reported.
TRANSLATION TRANSFER- The language barriers between first Vietnamese American generations and present generations makes it difficult for the Vietnamese communities to connect; especially for broadcasting where programming is primarily in the native language, often times leaves a handful of broadcasters serving narrow segments of the population. Therefore, statistically leaving the Vietnamese Broadcasting Networks to lack sufficient recourses to potential monetary value and investment funding to fund and capture correct data reporting.
PROBLEM: AMERICA’S BARRIER TO THE VIETNAMESE- Marketers sometimes overlook opportunities in the Vietnamese Communities because of its lack of reliable information regarding their consumer needs, lifestyles, language usage, brand preferences, and other important characteristics to guide their marketing strategies. The absence of reliable marketing data stems in part from the relative absence in research firms with the required staff and software technology to collect information from Asian Vietnamese American consumers and firms in their native language. Ironically, large proportions of Asian Vietnamese Americans prefer to communicate in their native language when given the choice, despite being highly educated and proficient in the English language.
SOLUTION: THE AVA NETWORK- In order to expand and acquire the Vietnamese Community it is critically important to understand the fundamental and subtle cultural differences of the Vietnamese person and the Vietnamese consumer. Through the translation transfer process- defining how and what affects multicultural consumer buying habits. The AVA Network has identified with the problem, understands the cultural differences and lack in language translations; in turn created a unique resolution to a complex problem; opening the doors to opportunities for local, regional, national, and global businesses to help develop and execute Vietnamese-centric strategies- to place their product and services in the forefront of the buying minds of a very powerful – and growing – buying demographic.
